NB: While it has been a mandatory legal requirement since 21st May 2010 to have an EPC – changes to the Green Deal has yielded a change in minimum requirements to the Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards.

As of 1st April 2018, all new tenancies and renewals will require a minimum standard of E, unless there is an applicable exemption. This will be further enforced by 1st April 2020 for all existing tenancies as well. Failure to comply to these new guidelines will result in a £4,000 penalty.
